Solid Power is seeking an EHS Manager to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next‐generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‐paced, collaborative and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate will have ten plus years of Environmental, Health, and Safety experience in a manufacturing or chemical facility.

Job Duties:

  • Health and Safety compliance and management system program for two facilities in Colorado. Support Environmental programs at both locations.
  • Identify and interpret safety and environmental regulations and provide guidance for compliance.
  • Development and/or implementation of Health and Safety compliance programs and EHS Management systems (ISO 45001), standards, and procedures.
  • Company expert in contractor safety, LOTO, electrical safety, combustible dust, machine guarding, hot work, and work at heights.
  • Management of chemical safety and industrial hygiene programs to include new chemical reviews, safe storage, MAQs, chemical hygiene plans, and respiratory protection.
  • Participate in and lead incident investigations.
  • Creation and delivery of EHS training programs.
  • Drive the EHS change management process including PHAs and PSSRs.
  • Emergency response and evacuation planning. Responds to emergency situations involving hazardous materials, fire and smoke incidents, or unknown hazards; prepares reports of findings and submits recommendations.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits and identify areas of improvement.
  • Interface between local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, and insurance carrier representatives to ensure that the company complies with appropriate requirements.
  • Implement health and safety solutions and drive changes in manufacturing processes systems that lead to reduction in health and safety risk.
  • Development, collection, and analysis of EHS metrics and reports.
  • Manage and develop team of Safety Specialists and EHS Technicians.
  • Performs miscellaneous job‐related duties as assigned.


Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent education/experience) in engineering, environmental health, or occupational health related discipline.
  • 10+ years experience as an EHS leader in a manufacturing or chemical facility. Additional experience with research and development preferred.
  • Previous experience leading or managing others.
  • Experience with OSHA, PSM, and IFC requirements. Strong Health and Safety background.
  • Chemical safety background to include experience with flammable liquids and water reactives preferred.
  • ISO 45001 Internal Auditor (Lead Auditor preferred).
  • Works well under pressure, effectively handles conflict and demonstrates flexibility in work style to accommodate changing priorities and fixed deadlines.
  • Serves as a change agent to drive cultural change in quickly changing business environment. Inspires others to action through collaboration and influence.
  • Rapid learner and self-motivated who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative start-up environment.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Creates alignment so everyone within the realm of responsibility understands the strategic vision and how their contribution furthers the success of the organization.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent education/experience) in engineering, environmental health, or occupational health related discipline.
  • 10+ years experience as an EHS leader in a manufacturing or chemical facility. Emphasis on Health and Safety.
  • Chemical industry and/or R&D experience a plus.
  • ISO 45001 implementation, certification, maintenance (required), ISO 14001 experience (preferred).


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to wear a respirator.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.

Salary Range: $83,000 - $132,000/annually
