Position Overview:Solid Power is seeking alaboratory specialist to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next‐generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‐paced, collaborative and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills to ensure that lab operations run smoothly. The laboratory spaces house equipment and instrumentation used by several teams including R&D, Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing. A successful laboratory specialist will engage with these different stakeholders to maintain a safe and productive environment.
Job Duties:
- Conduct daily walk-throughs of the laboratory to check that the space is safe, organized, and well-stocked. Work with laboratory users and other departments as necessary to correct any deficiencies.
- Work with laboratory users and EHS staff to manage chemicals and maintain an up-to-date chemical inventory.
- Inspect and manage satellite accumulation areas in coordination with EHS.
- Monitor inventory and follow purchasing procedures to order and restock general laboratory supplies.
- Facilitate instrument maintenance and repairs. Coordinate between laboratory users and equipment vendors to initiate repairs and maintenance as necessary.
- Oversee lab cleaning and organization. Organize the disposal of samples/chemicals/materials that are no longer needed.
- Proactively address issues in the lab. Communicate with team leads to develop solutions to problems that arise.
- Attend and contribute to meetings focused on safety and laboratory project planning.
- Rapid learner and self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative start-up environment.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to solve practical problems and identify the needs of the lab.
- Must be able to maintain a constructive working relationship with all staff, vendors, and co-workers.
- Experience with laboratory equipment (e.g., FTIR, TGA, DSC, XRD, glove boxes) including maintenance and repair is a plus.
- Experience with inventory management is a plus.
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in science, engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.
- 3+ years of laboratory experience in an industrial or academic setting including experience with laboratory safety procedures is required. 5+ years of experience with progressively increasing responsibility is preferred.
- Requires frequent walking, long periods of standing, and lifting up to 30 pounds.
