What you’ll do on the team

As a Windows Server Administrator you will be a member of the Infrastructure Practice at Avvale who provide enterprise system support to our customers. This is a unique opportunity to apply your system administration skills with low travel, as well as participate in R&D efforts and exercise thought leadership in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates should possess in-depth technical knowledge and hands-on experience with PowerShell, Active Directory Domain Services, Microsoft SQL and the Windows Server Operating System. The individual’s primary responsibilities will consist of, but will not be limited to, general server management in various cloud environments using automation tools.

Candidates will research, evaluate, design, implement, and maintain system and product solutions, applying knowledge of engineering and security principles. Individuals will also provide technical direction and engineering support for projects and infrastructure.

You will be responsible for:

• Support complex customer environments running various 3rd party applications

• Evaluate Windows systems for stability and scalability to support current and future needs of customers

• Installing, patching, and upgrading systems on a cadence using automation tools and cloud-native processes

• Investigate and record problem symptoms and status information in a timely fashion to communicate internally within IT as well as externally with other teams through problem resolution

• Monitoring, backup, and restoration procedures for customer systems using cloud best practices

• Document new system components or modifications to existing components

• Ensure the security and integrity of system and product solutions

• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for emergency technical support and planned maintenance activities

What you’ll bring to the team

• 2+ years of experience managing Windows Server systems with PowerShell and automation

• Strong speaking skills on the phone and in person with customers

• Ability to write clear, complete, and fluent emails, as well as internal documentation

• Experience using Ansible to manage Windows Servers including WinRM

• One or more professional level Windows certifications is a plus

• Real-world, hands on experience with at least one IaaS hyperscale environment (AWS, Azure or GCP) a plus

Base salary range: 70 - 100k base

- Discretionary Annual Bonus Potential: up to 10% of base salary based on company and individual key performance indicators.
