- Work closely with research and development to scale up novel fermentation downstream processes.
- Conduct DOE experiments to enhance product yield and purity and report results to leadership.
- Perform scale-up and scale-down studies to evaluate and select appropriate equipment.
- Develop detailed project plans, including resource allocation, budget estimates, risk assessments, and contingency plans
- Oversee the installation of new equipment, production lines, and facility improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, quality assurance, and research & development to define project scopes, objectives, and timelines
- Monitor project progress, track key performance indicators, and address any deviations from the plan, keeping stakeholders informed through regular updates
- Oversee the commissioning and startup of new equipment
- Conduct feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and technical evaluations to support decision-making on project priorities
- Calculate mass and energy balances on unit operations

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or food science discipline required. Chemical engineering degree preferred
- Proven experience (4+ years) in project engineering within a food manufacturing or similar industry, including successful completion of projects with capex exceeding $5M.
- Strong understanding of food processing equipment, automation systems, and manufacturing principles
- Capable of calculating material and energy balances for key unit operations
- Understanding of complex process problems and ability to develop, recommend and implement cost effective solutions
- Strong safety awareness and knowledge, always adhering to safety procedures (LTT) and SOPs
- Possesses strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently and with a team
- Proficiency using Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Background in food manufacturing
- Experience on greenfield construction of sites >$5M in capex
- Experience with filamentous fungi, yeast, or bacteria fermentations
- Experience operating centrifuges, membranes, chromatography, and CIP systems
- Proficiency in project management methodologies, tools, and software
