This position is part of the Engagement Alliance, which strives to provide the family meal experience that fits our customers' lifestyle, rhythm and goals — in the long term and in every single week. We do this by working on continuously improving the box experience of any given week - from planning, anticipation, box receipt, food prep and cooking, and adjustments for the upcoming week(s). We also work on ensuring our customers create healthy habits that will accompany them on their “long term” trajectory to whatever goal they pursue (well-being, convenience, better cooking skills).

As a Senior Director of Engineering, you will work on a critical area to HelloFresh needs with a focus on working effectively in a collaborative environment. You will lead the engineering organization, which owns the Engagement domain and is focused on the Customer facing journey after sign up. Pre-Order and Post-Order funnels for all HelloFresh Customers across 18 markets.

What you’ll do

Lead a team of 50+ people, split between 5-8 squads
Own and drive technology development globally within our platform business, balancing between short-term management of a large tech organization and long-term vision
Loyalty and user experience are key focus areas. You will get to focus on how we achieve success with our new and existing Customers. This is a top initiative for the company and thus provides a lot of visibility and opportunity to grow.
Hire, inspire, manage, and grow an engineering team, as well as be a leader of leaders and ensure every engineer has adequate growth opportunities
Provide valuable and timely feedback to your team, as well as to conducting regular performance reviews for your direct reports.
Set and ensure the upholding of high standards and software engineering best practices for quality, scalability, and customer focus
Be part of the technology leadership team and help set strategy and goals across multiple engineering teams
Play a key role in ensuring the ongoing alignment of our technology with the overall business strategy for the company

What you’ll bring

Strong Technical background e.g. - Ability to design and support distributed systems, deep-dive technical problems end-to-end (front-end and back-end systems)
A technical background demonstrated in past engineering leadership roles with a clear impact on achieving business goals
Proven Leadership e.g. - Hiring and developing managers and engineers, managing up top talent and managing performance.Demonstrable past experience with Agile methodologies, with a focus on data-driven experimentation, lean thinking and quick iterations
Proven track record of creative problem-solving and the desire to create and build new
processes
Ability to build effective and clear communication in a fast-growing engineering organization
Proven ability to influence others and facilitate agreement among stakeholders with different interests
Experienced in managing multiple engineering teams and individual contributors. A successful candidate will be hands-on with the team to design and build the systems and align them with the company’s business goals
